My name is Steve Straughn, and I'm the owner of Straughn Construction. I got my start in the trades during high school, helping my mom with repairs and renovations on her rental properties. I moved to San Diego in 2002 to attend UCSD, majoring in Music and Political Science, but would go home during the summers to help with the rentals. At the start of my 3rd year at UCSD, I began to seek side-work as a tile setter, landscaper, and painter. Before long, I was working nearly full-time. I built a strong customer base in San Diego by treating every job as an interview for the next.
