Steve did a great job installing the natural stone and hardwood floors in our new home. We had an urgent need to get an estimate and a finalized contract just a few days before our close of escrow to meet our lender's requirement. While many other companies I called would not give even a rough estimate before paying a visit, Steve did so promptly over the phone, and worked with us diligently to finalize the contract over the weekend before our COE. We were also able use Steve's membership to a supplier to get great prices on our hardwood and travertine material. Overall, highly recommended.

My wife and I hired Steve to install our hardwood flooring after we saw the amazing work he did at a friend's house. We initially only planned to do our living and dining room, but at the great deal we got and the high quality work from Steve we decided to get our stairs done as well! I found Steve's service on Kudzu. Before contacting Steve, we went to one of the major hardware stores to get an idea about what our flooring project would cost. A few things turned me off about my experience at the major hardware store. I had to pay a non-refundable deposit just to get an estimate. And then the estimate had all of these extra charges that made my head spin. My gut reaction was: I better get another estimate. Thankfully, I contacted Straughn Construction, Inc. First off, he was very punctual and professional. We just had a good feeling about it right off the bat. He was very clear about the estimate, so I understood everything that would be on our invoice. Also, what we paid for his service was substantially lower that what the major hardware store would have charged. He provided great suggestions when we asked, but would leave decisions up to us. For example, he would let us know which style of baseboard may be a good match for our flooring, but would provide several other options to choose from. I always felt like this was my project and he was the expertise. About the work itself, he and his team did a fantastic job. They worked really fast, able to complete our floor in a day, with a follow up day to finish up minor work. We feel like we have a new house. Our floors are flawless. I highly recommend you consider him if you're looking for a great flooring service.

Absolutely, I'd recommend Steve! Over the last few years, he has installed bamboo floors in one area of our house after another and redid the molding and framing of doors and windows and put in a BEAUTIFUL full wall backsplash in our new kitchen. If we are pondering a home project and learn that it's something Steve does, we are much more likely to put that project to the top of the list because I know the work will be done beautifully and I'll have nothing to worry about. As a mom with kids and dogs, I always have to think about who will be here doing work. Steve is nice to have around and is very calm and reassuring when plans go awry. Trustworthy, meticulous work, fair pricing, dependable - you can't go wrong.

We used Straughn Construction for hard wood flooring, tile installation and whole house base boards. We were extremely impressed by Steve, his professionalism, his problem solving abilities and his skills set. His team also were highly skilled in their areas of expertise. We feel the tile installers and the carpenter were true artists. Everyone was polite and customer service oriented. They are really good at working within people's budgets and try to get the best products possible for the money. The only constructive criticism I would make is that they could improve on job site clean up at the end of each day....but we are sort of OCD when it comes to that. Also, if something is not done correctly, they will come out and fix it at no charge. We would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs to install flooring!

In 2010 we bought our home and I was left alone to oversee the upgrades. I was skeptical with all the great reviews I had found. Then I met Steve, he made my worries go away and he did a beautiful job. I love my floors. I thought I was going to have to break the piggy bank but it was affordable and reasonable. I recommend Steve and his crew.

My wife and I thoroughly researched many contractors to install hardwood flooring in our home. We came across Steve's excellent reviews on Kudzu so we called to meet him, and get a quote for the job. After talking with Steve we were so impressed that we hired him to do the work. Obviously, with hardwood flooring to be installed in our entire house, including stairs, we were a little anxious to say the least. It took us only a few hours watching Steve work to put our minds at ease. It amazed us how well he could adjust to situations that just didn't go "by the book". Steve has impeccable patience and a very calm demeanor, making him easy to communicate with, and for getting the job done the right way and the way we wanted. Most important, Steve took the same pride in our home that he would take in his own, which is very rare these days.
